The
Achray Campground is a small (45 campsites) but
beautiful campground located on the Park's East Side. Having a much more rustic character than many
of the Highway 60 Corridor campgrounds, Achray lacks shower and
laundry facilities as well as hook-ups for RVs and trailers. It does offer flush toilets and treated cold-running water. What Achray lacks in facilities, it more than makes up for in charm
and beauty.
Located
on the shore of scenic Grand Lake, the Achray Campground has beautiful
sand beaches and several trails in close proximity to, or starting
from, the campground itself. The pretty Berm Lake Trail starts at
Achray, and a few minutes away by car is Algonquin's most spectacular
scenic wonder, the 100-metre deep Barron Canyon accessible by canoe
or by a self-guiding trail. Well worth a visit!
We
have expanded our well-known and long-running summer interpretive
program to include the Achray Campground. Join Park Naturalists
for a children's program or evening slide presentation
during your stay.
