Synopsis of Public Wolf Howl #103

Date of Public Wolf Howl: Thursday, August 28, 2008
Location: Kilometre 18 (west of Peck Lake Trail)
Result: Successful
Total number of vehicles: 357
Estimated number of people in attendance: 1,428
Number of staff working: 26

How the pack was found:
This pack was found by the naturalist staff on Tuesday, August 26 and heard again on August 27.

What happened at the howl?
For the second week in a row, we used the Km 18 pack. Unfortunately, the evening was windy making it difficult to hear. No response was heard after the first howling sequence but, after the ten-minute break, we tried again and there was a great full-pack response that everyone heard (although somewhat faint near the ends of the lines).

Comments:
Six staff from the Ontario Parks Marketing and Communication section in Peterborough assisted with this wolf howl.
