Barron Canyon Road Repaired - Algonquin Park Access Restored
The Barron Canyon Road at km 8 (outside Algonquin Park) has been repaired by the Ministry of Natural Resources as of June 26, 2011. Heavy equipment and numerous loads of gravel were required to fix the washout, that was discovered on the afternoon of June 25, 2011. Visitors entering and exiting Algonquin Park were stranded either side of the road washout until repairs were completed.

On June 25, a washed out culvert created a major washout preventing Algonquin Park visitors from entering or exiting the following locations:
- Sand Lake Gate
- McManus Lake Access Point
- Mallard (Sec) Lake Access Point
- Barron Canyon Trail
- Achray Campground
- Berm Lake Trail
- Eastern Pines Backpacking Trail
- Grand Lake - Achray Access Point
- Lake Travers Access Point
