Public Comment: Upgrades to Kearney Lake Campground

Ontario Parks and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (OMNR) invites public comment on its proposal to make upgrades to the Kearney Lake Campground, located at km 36.5 within the development zone of the Parkway Corridor. The purpose of this work is to improve the facilities that are available to park visitors. The proposed work would include: the demolition of an existing comfort station and construction of a new comfort station with greater capacity, construction of a larger septic system, and installation of hydro pedestals on approximately 40 campsites. This work is to be undertaken in accordance with the approved management guidelines for the park. Environmental effects, as a result of this project, are anticipated to be minimal.

Please provide your comments on this proposal within the 30-day comment period, which expires on Saturday, October 2, 2010. Public comments will be taken into consideration before continuing with the planning process.

This proposal is being evaluated as a Category B project under the Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves. Further notice regarding the outcome of the project will be sent to those who submit comments or request further notice when the project evaluation is finished. The Ministry of Natural Resources may proceed to implement the project without issuing a further general notice.
